In early May of this year, the first NeuroCar station for weighing vehicles in traffic of the HS-WIM type was put into operation on the E311 road, within the emirate of Umm Al Quwain. This is the first of the devices being installed by Site Technology as part of a truck traffic monitoring project commissioned by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI).
The installed HS-WIM station weighs and measures each passing vehicle, and identifies it by recognizing its country of origin, emirate, vehicle type and registration number. It then verifies whether the vehicle meets the requirements for gross weight limits and axle loads, as well as limits on dimensions (length, width and height). In addition, the license to carry out the transport of goods is also verified (registration in the MLS database).
All measurement data is aggregated in the measurement device and then immediately transmitted to MOEI’s Traffic Control Center. The transmitted data includes not only information on violations, but also photos taken from the front, rear and side of the vehicle. A 3D silhouette of the vehicle with dimensions is also available in the measurement data.
The project envisages the installation of another 16 measuring points in the emirates of Umm al-Qaiwain, Sharjah and Fujairah.
