System for measuring the average speed of a vehicle on a section of road. The system uses interconnected cameras (ANPR) installed at the beginning and end of the section. Thanks to the cameras, each vehicle is classified (passenger, truck) and identified, both at entry and exit, and the identification information is accompanied by precise time signatures along with the travel time. The distance driven by the vehicle is determined with a high accuracy, which in effect allows the calculation of the average speed. If the average speed of a given vehicle is higher than the speed limit, the system generates information about the violation. The digital evidence of the violation includes photos of the vehicle from the moment of entry and exit, as well as metadata: location, time, registration number, country of origin, category, make and model version, speed limits, calculated average speed and the excess value.
