By using automatic video stream analysis from one or multiple cameras installed above or beside the traffic lane, the system automatically detects events such as: wrong direction of vehicle movement, traffic congestion (multiple vehicles stopped for more than a defined time), prolonged stop of a single vehicle beyond a defined time, presence of pedestrians on the traffic lane, abnormal vehicle trajectory (e.g., evading an obstacle). The events are detected and transmitted in real-time. The surveillance area covered by a single camera ranges from approximately 30 to 50 meters.
